Summary - Incumbent serves as Recreation Leader for the City of Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department, responsible for planning, organizing, and conduction various programs, events and activities for both children and adults.
Incumbent in position is a Seasonal Employee with specific dates of employment and not eligible for unemployment benefits through this employer during the off-season.
Requirements/Licenses:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a valid Indiana Driver's License and demonstrated safe driving record.
Must pass a pre-employment drug and or alcohol test and adhere to policy.
Duties /
Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes and implements recreational programs for the Parks Department and oversees the progress which includes supplies are provided and safety measures are in-place.
Registers participants in recreation programs and keeps daily log of park users.
Prepares schedules of events, memos, news releases, and other avenues of communication to inform workers and the public of events.
Conducts programs and activities independently as assigned.
Maintains cleanliness and appearance of buildings and grounds, including picking up litter.
Gathers, stores and distributes recreation and athletic supplies, materials, equipment, and maintains inventory of items.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities:
High school diploma or GED, and relevant education and/or experience.
Thorough knowledge of the purpose, organization, and conduct of recreational activities.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, volunteers, vendors, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports as required.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, and plan and layout assigned work projects.
Ability to work on several tasks at the same time and complete assignments effectively and amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.
Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment with minimum direct supervision.
Ability to stimulate and maintain the interest of adults and children in both individual and group activities.
Ability to occasionally work extended, evening, and/or weekend hours.
Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information and records according to department and city policy.
Ability to maintain personal composure and tact during difficult situations.
Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules, including but not limited to attendance, safety, and apply OSHA safety regulations applicable to work performed, drug- free workplace, and personal conduct.
Working Conditions:
Incumbent performs duties outdoors involving exposure to direct sun and weather conditions that include chilly and/or hot temperatures.
Performs duties in a standard office and outdoors, involving sitting and/or standing/walking for long periods, handling/grasping/fingering objects, hearing sounds/communication, close and far vision, and speaking clearly.
