Responsible for the development and execution of overall company marketing plans and regional strategic direction for the DePuy Synthes knee product lines, which support and meet business, departmental and regional area goals and objectives and are aligned with reconstructive company sales goals and objectives. Manages surgeon advocate relationships with company and products. Provides link between marketing teams and sales distribution network.
LEADERSHIP & PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT
Partner with Marketing Directors and Business Partners (Sales, Professional Education, Medical Affairs, Healthcare Compliance) in implementing strategic decisions of the business unit and serve as voice between the field and internal Marketing teams.
Identify/evaluate segments of the market that are unique and profitable opportunities for the assigned region.
STRATEGIC FOCUS
Align activities to support DePuy Synthes Strategic Framework
In conjunction with Area Vice Presidents, develop and manage area marketing profile/plan and strategic objectives, seek market feedback/intelligence to assist in new product development opportunities to enhance corporate marketing/sales objectives and ensure alignment between Sales & Marketing.

Identify/evaluate segments of the market that are unique and profitable opportunities for the assigned region.
MARKETING EXPERTISE
As an extension of the Knee Marketing team, provide first-line knee expertise to territories, engaging surgeons and sales network to deliver technical knee product information.
Provide input to Professional Education strategy to align with business objectives.
Direct the activities of the marketing functions for assigned geographic area, driving clear knee marketing/product messages into the field, providing additional manpower to the reconstructive marketing teams and conducting presentations at appropriate regional and national meetings.
Provide market engagement through attendance at local, regional and national meetings.
Provide field/local market perspective and leadership role on project development teams, facilitate area communications, monitor sales and make recommendations to Marketing and/or Sales Management as to appropriate actions to facilitate market share increase.
Conduct regular communication activities to collect and disseminate information to appropriate parties, enabling marketing and sales teams to adapt strategy: competitive activities, testimonials, identification of barriers to adoption, etc.
Assist in development and delivery of programs to support knee product lines and marketing goals within established project delivery dates.
Provide insight to Marketing on surgeons' successful transition through learning curve to full competence when adopting new products.
Assist in the planning and execution of local, regional, and national orthopaedic teaching programs.
Assist Marketing in the collection of targeted customer lists within assigned region by serving as liaison between Sales and Marketing.
SALES SUPPORT
Support and manage launch/implementation strategy of knee programs/products for the sales network and function as a resource for sales force on competitive systems. Provide input to Product Management to assist in the development of sales aids/promotional materials to target selling message against competitive systems.
Provide technical product support to sales force and surgeons regarding key knee product lines, in accordance with product line goals & objectives and contribute to development and support of product-training programs for sales force.
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION
Serve as a champion to promote and assist in Professional Education programs.
Work with Professional Education/Sales Support groups to provide assistance with HCP and Sales Representative education. KFD provides compliant link between field offices and home office for HCP education program planning and execution. Includes programs such as Needs Assessment, Dinner meetings, SMART Labs, OR Visitations and Learning Centers.
Assist in identification and implementation of proposed process improvements to the Professional Education planning process to enhance business effectiveness and efficiency.
Work with Area Director and Territory on development of a pro-forma Professional Education plan, with a focus on the rolling subsequent three to six month period.
Participate in surgeon talent scope process to assist in identifying the appropriate skill sets and align those skills with internal business needs.
Assist in onboarding of new surgeon educators in assigned region, providing them with appropriate product technical information, support materials and messaging. Take a lead role in surgeon follow up post professional education activity to determine and assist in next steps in surgeons' learning journey.
Take lead role in measuring effectiveness of professional education activity for assigned region in driving business results.
Review surgeon educator activity within assigned region to monitor utilization and make recommendations on appropriate course of actions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of 5 years marketing experience in medical device industry or MBA with minimum 5 years proven background as Product Director in another industry.
A minimum of 3 years experience specific to sales is desirable. Medical device experience preferred.
Minimum 7 years experience technical background with an MBA may be considered.
Ability to understand and effectively convey advanced Clinical information and orthopaedic concepts.
Ability to appropriately apply J&J Health Care Compliance guidelines to management decisions and interactions with surgeon advocates.
Ability to develop and execute regional marketing plans which support DePuy's Sales and Marketing's goals and objectives.
Ability to manage and develop direct reports.
Ability to apply, teach and coach on basic marketing concepts (Product, Promotion, Pricing, Placement) that result in meeting company goals and objectives.
Ability to apply knowledge of competitive systems to resolve sales/marketing issues.
Ability to utilize and evaluate written or oral communication skills to produce effective marketing promotion materials, which accomplish department goals/objectives.
Ability to work across functional groups, line marketing, and multi-company environments to develop and achieve marketing and sales strategies.
Ability to manage multiple projects and lead project management teams.
Ability to make effective marketing presentations to small and large groups.
Must be extremely organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
Must be independent problem solver and self-starter.
Ability to independently create, manage and execute work plan and calendar.
